国際バスケットボール連盟 事務総長 パトリック・バウマン氏 逝去に際する 大河チェアマンお悔やみの言葉
2018年10月14日 国際バスケットボール連盟（以下、「FIBA」）事務総長 パトリック・バウマン氏が逝去されました（享年51）。ここに故人のご生前のご功績を偲び、心からご冥福をお祈り申し上げます。
訃報に接し、以下のとおり、大河正明チェアマンのお悔やみの言葉をお伝えします。
「非常に偉大な方が亡くなられたという突然の訃報を聞き、言葉もありません。
バウマン氏はB.LEAGUEができる前から、日本バスケットボール界の改革の最前線に立ち、日本バスケットボール界の問題を我が事のように向き合い、我々を導いてくださいました。
バウマン氏は日本バスケットボール界の最高の理解者であり、B.LEAGUEの生みの親といっても過言ではありません。
バウマン氏には引き続きB.LEAGUEを彼の目で見ていただき、日本バスケットボール界の可能性を感じて欲しかった。我々ができる彼への恩返しは、B.LEAGUEを通じた代表強化により、東京オリンピック・パラリンピックの出場権を獲得することだと思っております。
51歳という若さでお亡くなりになりましたが、彼の残した偉大な功績はこれからも日本バスケットボール界はもちろん、世界のバスケットボール界に永遠に残って行くことでしょう。
心からご冥福をお祈りいたします。」
"I am deeply saddened by the passing of FIBA Secretary General Patrick Baumann.
He was a great supporter and advocate for the basketball community in Japan.
He played a great role and led us in the reformation of the Japan Basketball Association and also without his support B.LEAGUE will not be where it is today.
I wish that we were able to show Mr. Baumann the future of B.LEAGUE and the future of basketball here in Japan.
To honor Mr. Baumann, we hope to strengthen our national team through B.LEAGUE and to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Games/Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
His great contribution and dedication for the sport of basketball will continue to live here in Japan and also worldwide.
My condolences to his family and the whole basketball community."
